Session 4 : Consumer and environment safety : Neoformed compounds generated within materials (food packaging, printing inks and varnishes) or in the contact environment, and contaminants linked to recycling of post consumer wasted plastics can cause unacceptable organoleptic modifications or give rise to toxic substances. Their chemical and toxicological characterization should contribute to an improved assessment of the health safety of foods and to greater consumer confidence.
